Nourlangie Rock (Burrungguy), Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory, Australia

Waiting for the sun to set over the Kakadu National Park, I was in awe of the human history of this area. Archaeologists have uncovered over 20,000 years of Aboriginal occupation around Nourlangie.

The area is a truly timeless place and global treasure. It is an enormous, biodiverse nature preserve, World Heritage listed for both its environment and living Aboriginal culture. The imposing rocky outcrop of Nourlangie contains historical Aboriginal rock art galleries. To this day you can see how local Aboriginal people lived in this area through changing times. Environmental and social changes are reflected in the rock art and in the ground.
