A few days of persistent rain had me hoping for something a little more amenable for sunrise. On this morning, with clearer skies, the soft light before the sun rose illuminated the apostles before me. A welcome break from the inclement weather of the previous days.
The Twelve Apostles rise from the coastline of Port Campbell National Park along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road. They were formed over millions of years through the erosion of limestone cliffs by the powerful Southern Ocean. Once connected to the mainland, these sea stacks remain as isolated remnants of a constantly changing coast, shaped by wind, wave and time, and slowly returning to the sea that created them.
