Exploring for remnant snow gums with an interesting story to tell, I came across this old snow gum, isolated on a farm, yet close to a large stand of remnant snow gums, sitting outside the property. This snow gum specimen looked like it refuses to give in to its inevitable fate.
Snow gums have long been part of the landscape around Braidwood, shaped by the region’s cold winters, granite country and high tableland conditions. While land clearing and changing land use have dramatically reduced many stands, remnant snow gums still persist, sometimes as lone survivors in paddocks, sometimes as patches along road sides, ridge lines and rocky slopes where they’ve been left untouched. In many parts of the district they remain the defining tree: pale trunks and twisting limbs scattered across the hills, a living thread back to the older, original woodland that once covered much more of this country.
Our acrylic blocks give the photo a three dimensional look. They are perfect for desks, bookshelves, mantlepieces, bed side tables - any horizontal surface.
The photo is printed on professional grade metallic photographic paper, using archival inks. It is then mounted on the back of an acrylic (plexiglass) block. It is finished with diamond polishing, buffing and final hand polish.
