"This ancient remnant snow gum was impressive. Given its age and that it is long unburnt it was both tall and wide. With its large trunk it has a number of scars reflecting its old age. I was drawn to this particular scar created from the loss of a limb, just a small section on this majestic tree. Ancient remnant Snow gums (Eucalyptus Pauciflora), while few in number, some still survive across the Macedon Ranges Shire. This one survives by a country road, one of a few remaining pockets across the low land areas. Their twisted forms stand as reminders of colder, older landscapes that once stretched well beyond the current alpine regions." - Scott
