Mount Beauty is nestled at the foot of Victoria's highest mountain, Mount Bogong, in the fertile Kiewa Valley. Living up to its name, Mount Beauty has many scenic highlights. I almost missed this shot. I had been set up early, hoping for a great sunrise over Mount Bogong and Mount Beauty below. It never eventuated and for some reason I decided to stay longer than I normally would after such an uneventful sunrise. However just as I started to pack up, the early morning sun broke through the cloud, shining rays of light on the Kiewa valley below, yet leaving the top of Mount Bogong still in cloud. With Mt Beauty's autumn leaves adding wonderful colour to the surrounding area and township I couldn't quite believe my luck this morning.
