Wild West

Redgate, Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, Western Australia, Australia

I walked down to the rocky shoreline of granite slabs, boulders and rock-strewn beach on the Redgate headland and watched the crashing waves up close. It was early morning, before sunrise, and I was hoping that the wild weather of recent days would cease and give me a spectacular sunrise. Instead, the wild weather continued, before the approaching storm and rain eventually put an end to my morning photography.

Bounded by the Indian Ocean, the endless beauty and diversity of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park envelops the western edge of the Margaret River Region. The area is one of Western Australia’s most loved and scenic holiday spots, with rugged limestone sea cliffs and windswept granite headlands dominating the coastline, interspersed by curving beaches, sheltered bays and long, rocky shorelines.
