Boranup Karri Forest, Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, Western Australia, Australia

Standing before the tall pale-barked karri I felt dwarfed by these massive trees. Reaching heights of 50 metres or more, these trees dominate the hilly slopes and valleys of the impressive Boranup Karri Forest.

This forest consists mainly of regrowth karri. The whole area was logged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and the heights now is what has grown back since then.

Karri is the third-tallest tree species in the world, and while these karri trees are not quite as tall or wide as the karri in other areas of South West Western Australia, they are still impressive.
