Ovens River, Victoria, Australia
It was a calm morning and fog lingered in the alpine valley around the township of Bright. As the sun rose, I stood listening, hearing nothing but the tranquil sounds of the flowing waters of the Ovens River interspersed with the calls of birds. The light filtering through created an unusual mood. The scene reminded me of paintings I used to see of this area when I was a child. It allowed me to imagine what the area was like before European settlement and before much of the river and local forests were changed.
