National Carillon, Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia
As I arrived by the lake on this cool autumn I was a little disappointed to see fog covering much of the area and obscuring any decent perspectives. However as the pre sunrise light emerged, the fog proceeded to move across and down the lake, leaving a foggy backdrop to the National Carillon. The elements of the resulting scene are typical of an autumn morning in the nation's capital; reflections in the lake, autumn colours, fog hanging over the capital, and Black Mountain Tower emerging above the fog.
Located on Aspen Island, Lake Burley Griffin, the National Carillon was gifted by the British Government to the people of Australia to celebrate the 50thanniversary of the national capital. With 57 bronze bells, the National Carillon is large by world standards.
