Jamison Creek, Blue Mountains National Park, New South Wales, Australia
In a constant state of motion and surrounded by eucalyptus forests and lush vegetation, Jamison Creek has forged its way through the ancient Blue Mountains. It drops down over the escarpment and cascades almost 300m into a large pool. From there, the water weaves further down the creek into the Valley of the Waters like something out of a fairytale.
The historic timeline of the Blue Mountains dates back hundreds of millions of years. The region began when the entire land was immersed in seawater. Over time, large sediment settling on the seafloor slowly compressed together to form sandstone and shale underwater rocks. Once the sea levels lowered, the large rocks appeared. Erosion and volcano eruptions shaped these mountains. Soon, life developed, covering the area in rich greenery and unique Australian animals.
