Grose Valley, Blue Mountains National Park, New South Wales, Australia
It is often said, photography is all about capturing a moment in time. This moment reflected a realisation of just how lucky we are in Australia.
This morning was freezing cold. I had been standing around since well before the sun cast any light. I was lamenting the lack of clouds and that it would likely be a less than spectacular sunrise. Yet, before me was a rugged valley within the Blue Mountains, forged by the Grose River over countless years. This area contains some of the most dramatic gorge and canyon landscapes of the entire Sydney basin sandstone region. So with that reality check, I patiently waited. As the sun rose, I realised just how fortunate I was to witness and then capture this particular moment in time.
