Goodyear, FG-1D Corsair
Whenever I see a Corsair flying at certain angles from a distance, the Inverted gull wing really makes me think this aircraft looks like a bird. I wanted to convey this feeling in a photograph but knew I had to get the angle correct. So I patiently waited for the right moment and when the aspect was right captured what I think is a great view on this World War Two aircraft.
The Corsair was a carrier-capable fighter aircraft that saw service primarily in World War II and the Korean War. When the Corsair first flew in 1939 it was the first American aircraft to exceed 400mph in level flight. Operated by the US Navy the type was also operated by a number of other countries including Great Britain and New Zealand. Nicknamed "Whistling Death" by the Japanese, the Corsair helped gain air superiority by the Allies in the Pacific. This example was license built by Goodyear and is a 2000hp Pratt & Whitney radial engine. It is the last airworthy example of over 400 operated by the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF).

CANVAS
Superior grade canvas, printed with archival inks and laminated to protect your print. The texture of the canvas creates a 'painterly' feel to the photograph. Your print comes stretched on a kiln dried Meranti timber frame, ready to hang. A popular, affordable, lightweight and modern way to enjoy Scott’s photographs on your wall. | Learn more |
UNFRAMED PRINT
Exquisite Hahnemühle Photo Rag fine art cotton paper. Museum quality, archival fine art paper and inks. As a print only, this requires framing, allowing you to select your own mounting and framing options. Unframed prints come rolled in a protective tube, making them best for international customers. The print has an additional 6cm white border around the photo, allowing sufficient room to accommodate various framing choices. | Learn more |
FRAMED PRINT
This clean, simple and modern look will suit any home. Your Hahnemühle fine art paper print is mounted and framed in a contemporary shadow box frame (approx 27mm wide x 48mm deep) that is available in white or raw wood. It is completed with museum grade acrylic (rather than glass) as it is light weight, transports well (doesn't break) and protects against 99% of UV. Framed prints come ready to hang on your wall. The listed size is for the image itself - the border and frame add approximately 7.5cm to each side of the print (ie 15cm additional length in total).
ACRYLIC - WALL MOUNT
This frameless, glass like feel is one of the most impressive and striking ways to display your print. Printed on a professional metallic paper, creates a 'pearlescent' metallic gloss finish. The print is face mounted onto optically clear, museum grade acrylic which offers 99% UV protection. The crisp, clean image is backed with treated aluminium, protecting your print from front to back. It is then finished with a diamond edge polisher. This comes ready to hang, with a thin aluminium frame hidden behind the print, so your print can be securely hung on your wall.
