Bathurst Lighthouse, Rottnest Island, Western Australia, Australia
As I waited for the sun to rise, the lights of Perth and Fremantle shone in the distance. It was a reminder of how close yet how far Rottnest Island is from the Western Australia coast.
One of two lighthouses on Rottnest Island, Bathurst Lighthouse was activated in 1900. It is located on Bathurst Point, in the north east of the island. Rottnest Island sits just offshore from the city of Perth, in Western Australia. A protected nature reserve, it is home to the quokka, a small wallaby like marsupial, white sand beaches and secluded coves.
