Kosciuszko National Park, New South Wales, Australia
I love snow camping in the backcountry during mid winter. It allows me to experience more remote areas in a mix of weather conditions and then photograph them in widely varied light. For a few days I had been camped near this location and wanted to capture the shapes created by the snow drifts covering the hidden waters of the river beneath. Poor weather and persistent fog had meant that it was difficult to see beyond a few metres in front of me. On this afternoon, the fog finally began to clear presenting me with this interplay of light over the scene before me. The metres of snow covered the creek and the hidden waters flowing beneath.
