Heysen Range, Flinders Ranges National Park, South Australia, Australia
The sunrise I experienced on this morning was simply spectacular. Arriving at this location in the dark, the entire sky soon lit up a bright pink, casting a magenta hue over the entire scene. Shortly after, as the sun breached the horizon, Heysen Range was lit up and glowed red before me as you see here. It was tough choosing which photograph I liked most from this morning but I settled on this image, displaying much of the magnificence of the spectacular Heysen Range.
The Heysen Range, part of the Flinders Ranges is named after the great Australian artist, Sir Hans Heysen who first visited the ranges in 1926. Heysen, particularly recognised for his watercolours of the South Australian bush, produced a large number of sketches and water colours of the Flinders Ranges. The Heysen Range, stretching along the central Flinders Ranges is full of wild mountains, spectacular gorges, gentle streams and plenty of wildlife.
