Flinders Ranges, South Australia, Australia

Australia may not have the great ruins of the ancient world, but there is still something particularly poignant about the remnants that early settlers have left amongst the great and remote Australian landscape. The remains of old houses hark back to days when families gathered around the fireplace or kitchen table after a hard day on the land, all without the comforts and conveniences of the modern world. The area around the Flinders Ranges contains many such remnants of earlier pioneering days of European settlement.

I found this location just after a heavy storm had cleared. With the walls of Wilpena Pound in the background it created a scene typical of the area. I was  happy to have captured it in this great late afternoon light
