Dove Lake and Cradle Mountain, Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, Tasmania, Australia
I was up early to capture sunrise over Cradle Mountain but, as is often the case, the summit was shrouded in fog. As the sun rose, the fog ebbed and flowed around the mountain and finally I was presented with this moving scene. Rain and stormy weather followed for the rest of the day ensuring this was the only glimpse of the stunning Cradle Mountain on this occasion.
Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park is a special part of Tasmania, with its ancient rainforests and alpine heaths. The National Park forms part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area and is one of the state's most protected natural places, where ancient pines fringe glacial lakes and icy streams cascade down rugged mountains. Dramatic Cradle Mountain is the jagged jewel of the park. There are many walks to do in and around the National Park - it is a must visit in Tasmania.
