Grand Canyon, Blue Mountains National Park, New South Wales, Australia
On this day I was looking to take an image that captured some of the elements that make this walking track and the Grand Canyon such a great location. This spot, rich in ferns, trees, moss covered rock and logs, with the cascading creek hidden from view summed up much of my experience. The small waterfall cascading over a cliff edge following earlier rain added a nice extra element. It is a great escape spending days exploring picturesque rainforest locations like this.
The Grand Canyon walking track is a terrific, easily accessible, wilderness escape. This historic walk, first established in 1907, takes visitors into the heart of this World Heritage-listed landscape with an intimate and adventurous route through the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is a narrow chasm about 180m deep, incised into the yellow-orange sandstone by the cascading waters of Greaves Creek. You pass arresting sandstone walls, ever-present waterfalls and abundant native plants that line Greaves Creek. In places, the track follows a path cut halfway up the cliff.
