Autumn by the Murray

Murray River, New South Wales, Australia

Set in the picturesque foothills of the Snowy Mountains and the birthplace of the mighty Murray River, the Upper Murray is an area whose character encompasses environmental beauty, rich in heritage and history. Forty million years ago, through the forces of water and geophysical uplifting, Australia's greatest river began to take shape into the form we know now. European settlement has had many a detrimental impact on the river, with intense pressure placed on the Murray from overuse. Yet some of mans' impact has created picturesque pockets along the Murray's banks, especially in Autumn with introduced deciduous trees adding stunning colour to the river. This tranquil location is just one example.
