This former Royal Australian Air Force P-51 Mustang has been restored and is being flown here by Mustang Flights of Wanaka.
The original "Dove of Peace" was flown by Lieutenant Colonel Glenn E. Duncan of the 353rd Fighter Group. This Group was attached to the U.S. 8th Air Force in the U.K., and flew fighter cover for the U.S. Bombers, plus strafing missions.
In July 1944 Lt.Col. Duncan was shot down while on a strafing mission. He managed to avoid capture and was helped by the Dutch underground. After liberation by Allied forces he resumed command of the 353rd Group in April 1945.
Acrylic desk block size: 50cm x 18cm (3cm deep)
Acrylic desk blocks give the photo a three dimensional look and make excellent gifts. They are perfect for desks, bookshelves, and mantelpieces.
Each photo is printed on professional grade metallic photographic paper, using archival inks. It is then mounted on the back of an acrylic (plexiglass) block. It is finished with diamond polishing, buffing and a final hand polish.
Since they are free-standing, no hanging system is required.
