Wilpena Pound, Flinders Ranges, South Australia, Australia

With so much grand flat space, the outback area of South Australia feels at times like a very lonely, isolated and deserted place. Well away from the occasional country pub, there is little to remind you that anything or anyone else is actually around. Yet where the outback meets the sudden rise of the western side of the Flinders Ranges, the change could not be more dramatic. You can't help but feel imposed upon by the large mountain range that emerges before you. As such, I wanted to try and capture this deserted landscape with the Flinders Ranges in the background. On this evening, as the sun went down, this single tree before me helped convey that feeling. I hope you get a sense of what I felt through this image.
