Blue Lake and Mount Twynam, Kosciuszko National Park, New South Wales, Australia
After a clear and freezing night the alarm woke me early. Rising from my warm sleeping bag, I snow-shoed up to a vantage spot I had identified the previous day. I knew if the sky remained clear, it would give me a good view across Main Range. The weather didn't disappoint and neither did the light. In the time before sunrise I witnessed stunning soft light cascade across Australia's highest mountains. Mount Twynam with the glacial formation of Blue Lake beneath it was the stand out. After the effort of camping in the snow, it's always a pleasure to get to see sights like this, a great payoff for enduring the cold.
