Mount Buffalo National Park, Victoria, Australia
On this winter's day I had been photographing across the mountain with snow falling intermittently. As the afternoon progressed, the snow became more persistent creating a beautiful dusting of snow across the sub alpine environment. This particular mountain gum stood out to me, a classic Mount Buffalo winter scene that reminded me of my early winter memories as a child on this mountain.
Mount Buffalo National Park is one of the oldest parks in the Australian Alps, first established in 1898. A mountain plateau, Mount Buffalo is an all seasons playground. It has sheer cliffs, imposing granite tors, tumbling waterfalls, snow gums and stunning wildflowers. The park itself features over 90km of walking tracks, panoramic scenery and plenty of scope for adventurous pursuits such as rock climbing and hang gliding. In winter the park is transformed, with snow covering its granite outcrops and the gentle undulating alpine landscape.
