Victorian Alps, Alpine National Park, Victoria, Australia

Victoria's Alpine National Park, along with the adjoining national parks in NSW and the ACT, form The Alpine National Park, a protected area that covers almost all of Australia's high country. The park protects Australia's highest mountains and varied alpine environments. I captured this image while I sat alone one summer evening on one of Victoria's highest mountains. As the day ended, the cloud continued to rise up the slopes and by sunset, the summits of Mt Hotham and Mt Feathertop were hidden in the distance by the surrounding cloud cover. It is times like these that I truly appreciate the experience of seeing sunset from the top of a mountain.
