Point Lonsdale Lighthouse, Victoria, Australia
It was an early summer morning at the entrance to Melbourne's Port Phillip Bay. Before sunrise, soft warm hues filled the sky, marking the start to a gorgeous day.
Point Lonsdale Lighthouse stands at the eastern end of the Bellarine Peninsula on the western side of the entrance to Port Phillip Bay from Bass Strait. From the headland it overlooks the 'Rip', a stretch of water considered amongst the most treacherous navigable passages in the world, and the only seaborne approach to Melbourne.
