F/A-18 Hornet, 77 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force

The Royal Australian Air Force's number 77 Squadron has a proud history. Following its formation in 1942, it has served with distinction during World War Two, Korea, the Malayan emergency and more recently in support of operations in the Middle East. The squadron currently operates the F/A-18 Hornet aircraft from RAAF Base Williamtown. I captured this image as a 77 Squadron F/A-18 Hornet taxied down the runway as smoke from explosions during a simulated airfield attack minutes earlier drifted across the runway. Having been part of 77 Squadron during my time in the RAAF, images like this are great reminder of my career before photography.
