The 2011 Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPA) have finished up for another year. I went well, receiving two Silver with Distinction awards and a Silver award.  My highest scoring print was the highly popular photo ‘The Wall’ and ‘Snow Solitude’ wasn’t far behind, also receiving a Silver Distinction.

The Australian Professional Photography Awards, are held annually and usually coincide with the staging of an annual photo imaging exhibition organised by the Photo Imaging Council of Australia (PICA). The current major sponsor of the awards is Canon.  Professional photographers from Australia and New Zealand compete for a number of industry awards by submitting four images, which are judged by a panel of their peers. The Canon AIPP APPA attracts hundreds of entries and the premier award is the title of “The Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photographer of the Year”. Each year award winning images are published in an Awards Book.
