Photographing rural and country scenes always feels challenging yet ultimately rewarding. Challenging, as I want to capture the serenity and calm I feel being away from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet photographs often can't convey what I feel. Rewarding, when patience is repaid and the elements come together at the right time for a photograph to convey the sense of freedom and space that comes from being surrounded by the beauty of the rural Australian landscape. As I stood waiting in the cool of this spring morning, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relaxation as the sun rose and the first light hit the surrounding hills and the grass in the foreground before me. Earlier, as I walked up this hill, I passed a wombat and kangaroos grazing; it was a truly Australian rural experience on this country property.
